Amazon.com:
Taking a break from his day job fronting rock heavyweight Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder immerses himself into the big-screen story of a young man who gives all his money to charity and hitchhikes to a new life--and his eventual death--in the wilds of Alaska. Prompted by the film's creator, Sean Penn, to contribute to the musical score, the Seattle musician tackled the entire project, playing every instrument on the soundtrack's nine original and two cover songs. Vedder contemplates the traveler 'setting forth in the universe' in the opener 'Setting Forth,' then tracks in the remaining songs the realizations and disillusionments that follow. A wish comes true in banjo-plucked 'No Ceiling' to 'up and disappear,' while affluence is questioned on the hard-rocking 'Far Behind,' with Vedder singing, 'Empty pockets will/Allow a greater sense of wealth.' No song in the album's first half exceeds two-and-a-half minutes, remedied by Vedder's pertinent five-minute stamp on the remake of Indio's 'Hard Sun,' complete with eerie backing vocals by Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker. The songwriter puts wealth on the hot seat in 'Society,' questioning, 'If less is more/How you keepin' score?' The darkly sung folk song bookends the reticent declaration 'Guaranteed,' wonderfully delivered and quietly strummed, in which the prodigal Vedder wraps the journey in one line: 'Leave it to me as I find a way to be/Consider me a satellite forever orbiting.' (The record is packaged like a hardcover book, with vivid photography and lyrics.) --Scott Holter

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Takes you to another place...
Great music, fit the movie perfect and best of all it stands alone....One bad thing to say: The songs are too short!
If you are going on a road trip, this CD is perfect! Also it is a great stress reliever! Eddie's voice has so much emotion and the lylics are pure poetry!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Better with age....
* This album is a just a slight step away from Pearl Jam, but well worth the short trip. Eddie brings all passion and storytelling of Pearl Jam, but this time he has clearly pushed his music in the direction he wants it to go. In my opinion this some of his best work as a vocalist, relying on an acoustic sound and feel to deliver a very good sit and listen session.
Simply a must have album. ...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - lovin' the guitar
movie was good, so i ventured into the soundtrack... its great for those times one is in the mood for mellow, perhaps melancholic music. vedder's raw voice makes for good driving company.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Even If you are not a Pearl Jam Fan, It's a good purchase
* I have been PJ fan since first album (TEN) and i can say... it's Eddie Vedder making a trip to he fan's dreams, like a baby sleeping song.

It's short but in a couple of time you listen to it, you will be hearing the songs in your head, again and again....

I can say that the album is manufactured in materials of first quality. Even if you have not seen the film (like me) you will feel the history inside the lirics and through what is exposed in the pictures.

I could give 6 stars. ...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Guaranteed
'Guaranteed' is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It makes my heart ache every time I hear it. The instrumentals, the vocal, the lyrics, they just send me. I was never a big Pearl Jam fan through the nineties, so don't expect any accolades or comparisons here. I "googled" Eddie Vedder just to find out who he was. I recently rented the dvd and the music has haunted me every since then. I bought the cd and enjoyed listening to it tonight. The 'hidden' track came on while I was busy cooking dinner and I had left the cd in play. I might never have known about it otherwise. This cd is as long as it needs to be. I enjoy listening to several different cds during the course of the evening, and 'Into The Wild' definitely makes it into my playlist. My taste leans toward acoustic, blues, jazz. 'Long nights' is my favorite song on the album. The thing about these songs is that they are true.

You can say this about D.E.B.S.: director Angela Robinson’s 2005 feature isn’t very good, but it is surprisingly entertaining. The premise, which bears a passing resemblance to any number of previous films (from Heathers and Clueless to Charlie’s Angels and the Austin Powers franchise), involves a secret government agency recruiting young women as spies, based on their smarts, their ability to lie convincingly, and the fact that they look fetching in ultra-miniskirts. Four of the D.E.B.S. are then charged with collaring "criminal mastermind" Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster), who has returned to the States after hatching all manner of nefarious plots overseas. Then comes the twist: Diamond is gay, and one of our heroines, Amy Bradshaw (Sara Foster), unexpectedly finds herself falling in love with her. Out goes the espionage element; in comes the love story, and therein lies the surprise, as this burgeoning lesbian relationship is handled with unexpected sympathy, even tenderness. Sure, the acting, even by veteran grownups like Holland Taylor and Michael Clarke Duncan, is almost uniformly lame, and the script is silly; overall, the film would have to put on considerable weight to even be considered frothy. Still, D.E.B.S. isn’t a bad way to kill a couple of hours. DVD bonus features include a making-of featurette and commentary by Robinson and the cast. --Sam Graham

The teaming of Johnny Knoxville (Jackass: The Movie) and Seann William Scott (Dude, Where's My Car?) as well as the presence of the '70s-flavored car chases that were a specialty of the TV series guarantees that The Dukes of Hazzard will be even more lowbrow than the CBS TV series (1979-85) that inspired it. However, this brain-damaging comedy is more "rehash" than "remake," as good ol' Georgiaboys Luke Duke (Knoxville) and his cousin Bo (Scott) are frequently upstaged bythe General Lee, the Confederate-flagged '69 Charger that they drive, jump, race, and fly in as they smuggle moonshine for their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson). Meanwhile, cousin Daisy Duke (Jessica Simpson) is reliably available to model her short-shorts (aka "Daisy Dukes") and awesome figure (and let's face it, Simpson's talents pretty much begin and end right there), while corrupt honcho Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds, who should know better) recruits a local NASCAR star to advance his wily scheme of converting Hazzard County into a strip mine. Director Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers) manages to mine some good-natured humor from the movie's oval-track detour and a few colorful supporting players (notably Kevin Hefferman as the Duke's pal Sheev). Otherwise, consider yourself warned: The Dukes of Hazzard is shameless Hollywood product at its most forgettable, trafficking in shameless white, rural Southern stereotypes. If you can make itto the end, there's a blooper reel to reward your endurance. --Jeff Shannon

DVD features
Yes, the unrated edition of The Dukes of Hazzard has nudity... but no, it's not of Jessica Simpson, but topless sorority girls. There are also two sets--"PG-13" and "unrated"--of deleted scenes and bloopers. The four minutes of unrated deleted scenes (supplementing the 25 minutes of "PG-13" deleted scenes) include more sorority girls and a menage à trois for Johnny Knoxville . The five minutes of unrated bloopers (the same amount as the "PG-13" bloopers) feature a few more girls but mostly bad language. Featurettes discuss the Daisy Duke short shorts (and show how you can make your own), car stunts, and the making of the movie (narrated by a cast member of the original TV series). --David Horiuchi
